Had some gold toned shell beads that matched the pendant well for size and color, though they look a bit washed out here, I guess because they're reflecting light.

How have things been going crafts-wise? Anything to share?

What sort of storage or tools do you find particularly useful for your work? Has your use of these evolved or do you still use the same items you started out with?

Hiii, i just wanted to show off how i hung up these feathers on my window!! They're turkey feathers that have naturally fallen off of my grandpa's domestic turkeys. Within the wrap knot on each feather is a short bamboo stick to kind of stabilize it and each one also has spiral half-knots. (there wasn't a macrame tag so i just put tag needed)

I called this my stock market set 😉

For the buffalo, a mix of metal, glass and metallicized plastic. Went with the star that was part of its carving, but also red and roses because Ferdinand was a favorite story as a little kid.

Funnily enough, the red beads show up so strongly in the photo but in life they're barely noticeable alongside the brown!

Have you ever created crafts for specific events such as a fundraiser, a contest, a community event, etc.? If so, what was that like? Were you the only crafter, did you get to work with other people?

I think of this as my Lancelot necklace because in Merlin, Lancelot was the one to kill the Griffin and it made him Merlin's confidant.

Last month we discussed shows about crafts, but so many people have learned them from another person directly. Is that how you learned any of your crafts? And have you ever taught someone else how to do a craft?

It's 3 months out from the Canberra Spinners and Weavers annual exhibition and sale and I'm focusing on making stock to sell. I thought I'd include some of my design thoughts and process as I do, not to show off or promote stuff to sell, but to show that I'm just doing dumb stuff until it works. Anyone can do what I do, and more importantly everyone should be out there doing dumb stuff with their hands and their brains. The world is now not only on fire, but filled with creations that can make things but they cannot make at. Because art requires intention, and that's something Al doesn't have (yet). So use your hands and your brains and make things our techno overlords cent replicate.
I, for one, do not welcome our new overlords )

**Cross posted from my journal, some weaving and knitting patter.**

So it's been over a month since I posted any thing crafty. I've certainly been crafting, I just haven't had any big finishes. I often think of my crafting approach as "kicking the can down the road." Lots of little steps, sometimes without significant progress.
So here's the cans I've been kicking. )

These pendants were designed for an earring set, but I liked the way the colors looked different depending on how they were turned.

I started learning to knit three days ago, and am working on doing multiple rows of knit stitch on some giant plastic needles made for kids.

I am enjoying myself so far! We shall see how far this journey takes me!

I just snagged the Humble Bundle quilting and embroidery bundle, 17 books on quilting (mostly with precuts), crazy quilting, sashiko and embroidery. I bought it because I wanted Purr-fect Patchwork, which is worth more than the whole bundle itself, but I'm excited to check out most of the titles.

The bundle is about $US20 (I see it in my own currency) and is available for the next 17 days.

Humble have also just released a knitting bundle, $US20 for 17 knitting books available for the next 10 days.

Did you get more crafting time last month? What new or continuing projects have you been working on?

This month's question involves shows involving crafts, from overviews like Craft in America to specific how-tos. Do you or have you watched crafting shows, and how useful do you find them?

I wanted something a little rough looking to go with this because the octopus is so shiny. Didn't have anything that fit the bill which was the right size, and I wanted to make this a bit longer of a necklace. So I used groups of metal bead ends along with some blue E beads for the ocean angle.

My partner and I don't really do Christmas because of our combined childhood and family trauma. But I suspected she'd gotten me a little gift and I was struggling to think of something to gift her in return. Then the December check in here prompted the idea to make her something.

Partner had mentioned that she wanted to do some cross stitching over the holidays, and I've always wanted to make a cross stitch project bag. So that's what I did!
