How have things been going crafts-wise? Anything to share?

If not much has been going on, here's a question for you: what has the biggest effect on whether or not you work on crafts? Is it time, inspiration, materials, company, something else?

I started making some new necklaces last week. Part of the timing was because the first few months of the year have been occupied with other things like 3weeks4dreamwidth, and communities I'm involved with. Also the longer days make me more willing to be doing beading in the evening.

However the biggest impetus for starting work on new things is because a niece sent me a bunch of orphaned and broken jewelry to work with. It's been a few months since the package has been sitting there so I figured I'd better take a look at what it consists of and figure out how to make something with them!

My creative work has been mostly gardening stuff. Interestingly, the tomato and peas growing inside the wooden cage I built are thriving the most.

Almost always energy, but often time. I'm never short on inspiration.

At least most of the spring planting is done. I still have more things to do, but dormant planting is finally done (including the stuff shipped 1-2 months late), the seedling vegetables and flowers mostly done. A lot of stuff is blooming and very pretty to look at. :D

I get a twice yearly steroid injection in my right (dominant) thumb, which is scheduled for June. In the meantime, it's difficult to do much of anything but I've been crocheting a bit with my brace on and it's going OK.

What I really ought to do is get some embroidery floss for a cross stitch project because that's easier on my hands but I'm moving soon and trying not to buy too many craft supplies… I guess I could make another of one of the patterns I've already done because I still have thread left over from those projects, just not the colors for what I want to do next (full hoop TV test pattern).

Ouch! Sounds like good timing though if you'll be moving soon.

Time + confidence affects a lot. I try not to fuck with inspiration as its a very fickle thing and I'm very used to just planning as I go and inspiration can sometimes feel like a prison or set of rules I MUST follow, lest I be a bad crafter.

Mostly just upcycling a shirt and I made a keychain charm for a friend.
