bookscorpion: a derpy bee (derpbee)

I decided to bring my electric spinning wheel home after keeping it at my partner's house, in an effort to stop myself from refreshing the same four websites all the time. It has worked out great and I am making a dent in my stash! It's a very small wheel, an EEW Nano, so I put it on my lap desk on an old pillowcase to catch fibre fuzz, and also because I can fold the pillow case around it and put it aside easily.

I finished three small batches of yarn, pictures under the cut:

a merino chainply to preserve the colourway

merino mixed with tencel and silk and Cobuger Fuchsschaf (I ran out of that for the last hank of yarn) - an opposing ply threeply

Steinschaf (black) and another merino/silk/tencel, a 3ply of the two dyed singles plyed together and then with the black single

Your yarns are beautiful! Lovely colour combinations. And great photos too.

These are gorgeous!

I didn't know that electric spinning wheels exist. I mean, it makes sense… Maybe my friends who spin yarn are all nerds, tho, because they all use the old fashioned kind.

Wow!

Those are so beautiful! I love variegated and barberpole yarns. Sadly I'm allergic to wool so most of the pretty ones are things I can only buy for friends, or use for a craft I don't have to touch like a wall hanging.

Yeah, it's the high-contrast barbers that I love most. I like when it's bright/bright but that's a bit harder to juggle so the same colors don't overlap. Color/cream almost always works. Color/dark brown works if the color is light enough to stand out. Color/gray gives a softer option for muted dyes or when you don't want too much contrast.

I don't spin, but around here we have plenty of fibercrafters. I like looking at what they create. Then there are commercial things like Zauberballs that have similar effects. It's just fun to explore.

Yeah, I'm not great with numbers either, and knitting seems fiddly. I'd like to make another try at crochet though.
