Cross Stitch and Patterns

Good evening! This seems like a fun little community so I figure I'd contribute a bit. I sometimes make my own cross stitch patterns in MS paint and this was one of them.

Does anybody else try and make their own patterns, be it cross stitch or any other medium?

I often make my own patterns for sewing. Some things don't even need a pattern, like the tabards. I've made cross-stitch patterns a few times but it's not something I've got a lot of.

Oh this is adorable ♥

I make my own patterns for friendship bracelet sometimes (quite easy for me, but rarely needed because I favor abstract patterns and there are already so many of these out there), and crochet (not easy for me because I can't just draw it and be done with the patterning, I need to test and take notes and that totally takes me out of my usual crafting flow. Which is super sad because I long for patterns that just don't exist...)

Not that kind of friendship bracelet, the other kind =') The one where you knot threads together (it's a specific category of macrame, if you want to be technical). Like this for example:

Photograph of a friendship bracelet with blue swirls over a black background.

Given that you move your threads around each time you make a knot, you need to plan ahead to make sure every color is accessible where you need it =)

Crochet is super cool, I like how fast you can make cute little things, and how easy it is to move and work on anywhere!

Aha most people think of "your" type of friendship bracelets first, I'm getting used to it ^^ And it's not that complicated, it's all made of only four types of knots. You just need to be meticulous in following the pattern to avoid ending up with the wrong thread order =) Then it's all about getting enough experience to be very regular in how you tighten the knots to make it look extra pretty!

So cute! I'm working on a knitting pattern for a plush toy right now, because I couldn't find any patterns online that were similar to what I wanted.

It's a fruit slice! So far I made a lemon slice and a grapefruit slice, and I'm thinking about doing watermelon too.

This is so cute! I love it.

I've made a few cross stitch patterns, but mostly what I like to do is mash up existing patterns with amusing (to me, anyway) words or sayings. For example, I took a nice vineyard & grapes & wine pattern and added "To Do: [ ] Drink [ ] Know Things" with little checkboxes checked off. :)

That's so cute!! I don't exactly make patterns but I do wing it sometimes with sewing, knitting, crochet type stuff.
