Loved this little sloth pendant and the green colors. Decided to have it hanging out in trees, with some light and dark green balls, and some mossy textured rice paper squares. Tied them together with some metallicized plastic gold beads to match the pendant, and a flower toggle.

I watched Project Hail Mary and got sucked into the Goslingverse.

There are a number of fics I'm eying to bind, but I already have a WIP list and they will take far too long for me to tackle. Luckily, I was looking up some Goslingverse crossovers and stumbled across this fic from Twitter user tunariceball, who made a wonderful fic about Courtland (The Gray Man) and Grace (Project Hail Mary) meeting each other in prison. The fic also inspired @chicharonie22 to make a fanart of the meeting that I had to include!

I haven't made a simple pamphlet bind in so long, yet I found myself enjoying my time weaving the pages and gluing the front/back cover strips. Such a simple bind, yet such a perfect form for short fics! Perhaps I can make more of these to tide myself over till I have some more free time.

Black Dragonfly and Rainforest Colors

This dragonfly pendant is very light and delicate so I decided to go with something small and light. I used varied shades of grey and black to match.

Included are hematite cylinders and balls, fire polish ovals, and glass seed beads.

Beaded Accessory

For lack of better title... It could be a keychain; it could be a phone charm. Right now, it's hanging off of my phone.

After seeing a Tumblr post that stuck with me, I managed to find some alphabet beads that matched in color enough to recreate the words. Serendipitously, with three lines, the number of letters matched perfectly, otherwise I was considering sewing the words to fabric stretched on an embroidery hoop.

I think I did a modified square stitch, putting this all together. "Modified", because I think I did it backwards... It's holding together, and I can only hope my knots hold, so I don't drop beads like confetti out of nowhere.

Perhaps because my partner's into auto racing, when I saw these coin beads, I immediately thought of a checkered flag. I got these hematite flat rectangles and thought they looked like the asphalt of a race track. Added in the toggle which looked a bit like a lug nut.

He really liked it and wore it a few weeks ago for the Indy 500 weekend.

Frankensteining a work notebook for personal journalling

I've gotten back to journal writing for the past several months and it's been a calming experience to do in the evenings. However, much of the notebooks for sale in the local hypermarket aren't made for handling fountain pen inks. Much of the better-made notebooks are imported and can cost into the triple-digits, and I don't want to be burdened with another hobby that has a high expense rate.

But I do know of a compromise: work notebooks. The company I worked issues new notebooks to all staff every year, and they're pretty durable. I have several already that are unused, and several more that are partially used.

So what if I carve up the partly-used notebooks so that only the unused pages are left, stick them together, and put them back with a cover?

So I did that!

I loved these opalite cylinders when I got them years ago. Still had a few left so paired them with some fiber optic, frosted glass and milky glass and tied them together with the silver cubes.

I'm not fond of using connectors because my experience is that they tend to tangle. But when I saw these pieces I had to get them because I do jigsaw puzzles. Paired them with some large orange glass and some alternating silver and gold hearts and artificial amber ovals. Then added the roughly hammered toggle because it made me think of papery jigsaw edges.

Hanging macrame feathers

Hiii, i just wanted to show off how i hung up these feathers on my window!! They're turkey feathers that have naturally fallen off of my grandpa's domestic turkeys. Within the wrap knot on each feather is a short bamboo stick to kind of stabilize it and each one also has spiral half-knots. (there wasn't a macrame tag so i just put tag needed)

I called this my stock market set 😉

For the buffalo, a mix of metal, glass and metallicized plastic. Went with the star that was part of its carving, but also red and roses because Ferdinand was a favorite story as a little kid.

Funnily enough, the red beads show up so strongly in the photo but in life they're barely noticeable alongside the brown!

I decided to bring my electric spinning wheel home after keeping it at my partner's house, in an effort to stop myself from refreshing the same four websites all the time. It has worked out great and I am making a dent in my stash! It's a very small wheel, an EEW Nano, so I put it on my lap desk on an old pillowcase to catch fibre fuzz, and also because I can fold the pillow case around it and put it aside easily.

It's 3 months out from the Canberra Spinners and Weavers annual exhibition and sale and I'm focusing on making stock to sell. I thought I'd include some of my design thoughts and process as I do, not to show off or promote stuff to sell, but to show that I'm just doing dumb stuff until it works. Anyone can do what I do, and more importantly everyone should be out there doing dumb stuff with their hands and their brains. The world is now not only on fire, but filled with creations that can make things but they cannot make at. Because art requires intention, and that's something Al doesn't have (yet). So use your hands and your brains and make things our techno overlords cent replicate.

So it's been over a month since I posted any thing crafty. I've certainly been crafting, I just haven't had any big finishes. I often think of my crafting approach as "kicking the can down the road." Lots of little steps, sometimes without significant progress.
